BEAUFORT — A letter sent by the South Carolina Environmental Law Project asserts that Beaufort County officials violated the state’s Freedom of Information Act when they allowed an attorney and a developer, who are parties to a pair of lawsuits in which the county is a defendant, to participate in a Sept. 14 executive session discussion.

County officials dispute the group’s claim.
