The Charleston County Planning Commission is trying to curtail overdevelopment in the Ten Mile Community with a proposed zoning change.
Ten Mile residents are expressing their gratitude for the proposed change, which would rezone the area from low density and urban residential to a special management district. The rezoning would mean fewer homes on larger lots.
"I'm just here to say 'thank you'," Ten Mile resident Pearl Ascue said. "There's a huge concern about the 24 settlement communities in Charleston County. We are feeling the impact from overdevelopment."
While neighbors are happy with the change, there are still worries the current infrastructure will struggle to support even the most basic development.
