Rural councilman wants Greenville County to stop new subdivisions for 6 months

GREENVILLE — Three weeks after Greenville County Council adopted new rules to guide how subdivisions can develop in unzoned areas of the county, one of the councilman opposed to those new rules asked the council to consider a six-month moratorium on new major subdivisions.

Joe Dill, who represents District 17 in northern Greenville County, introduced the proposed moratorium Sept. 7. Council Chairman Willis Meadows referred the plan to the council’s planning and development committee, which Dill chairs.

The council didn’t discuss the proposal during its meeting. Afterwards, Dill said the county needs to get a handle on the impacts of the new development rules on the existing infrastructure and roads.
